The Netherlands ANT Neuro company, in continuation of its series of free webinars, on Wednesday, April 25, from 17:30 to 18:30, will hold a webinar on the topic of “Benefits of simultaneous recording of EEG and MEG in patients with epilepsy”.
Functional brain imaging using EEG and MEG provides high temporal accuracy in milliseconds. This high temporal resolution is used to investigate abnormal brain activity in patients with epilepsy. These methods are complementary when used simultaneously and each is suitable for detecting part of the underlying neural currents. Seizures and spikes are easily detected and sourced, providing neurosurgeons and neurosurgeons with valuable information for treatment planning.
This webinar, which covers the complementary aspects of these two methods, will be presented by Dr. Susan Bowyer, a professor at Auckland University and an expert in medical physics and neuroimaging. His research is using EEG, MEG and fMRI to understand how the brain processes language, hearing, vision, sensory and memory functions and developing imaging methods to locate abnormal brain areas (such as epilepsy) before surgery. He has also conducted research on brain networks in autism disorders, dyslexia, migraine, tinnitus and dystonia.
